Bayern Munich explained that Jamal Musiala’s recent collapse was due to changes in his treatment.
Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has reassured fans over Jamal Musiala’s condition after the midfielder collapsed during warm-up matches in consecutive appearances.
Musiala went down during Bayern’s 4-2 friendly win over Heidenheim on Tuesday, just six minutes after coming off the bench.
The 23-year-old required medical attention before being helped from the pitch, having experienced a similar episode during Saturday’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

• His teammates were also aware the whole time
• It’s no longer a big topic of discussion internally

revealed that he has been diagnosed with a neurological dysfunction and described the episodes as something that is currently part of his everyday life.
The latest incidents inevitably raised concerns about his fitness, but Kompany insisted there was no immediate reason for alarm ahead of Bayern’s German Super Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund.
According to the Bayern boss, Musiala’s recent episodes are linked to changes made to his treatment. Kompany said the midfielder had altered aspects of his treatment and experienced side effects as a result, describing the situation as a normal part of finding the right approach to managing his condition.

“With his treatment, he changed some things and that had some side effects. That is normal, that during treatment you try something else,” Kompany told reporters, adding that Musiala had given him permission to discuss the situation publicly.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl also offered his support to the young star, revealing that the club has known about Musiala’s condition throughout the previous season.
He added that Musiala wanted the situation to be made public and stressed that Bayern would continue to support him as he adjusts to the latest changes in his treatment. Musiala will miss Saturday’s Super Cup, allowing him more time to recover and adapt.
The midfielder has already faced a difficult period after a serious injury in July 2025 kept him out for six months and disrupted his momentum.
However, Kompany believes Musiala has made significant progress and remains confident that he can return to his best. “For me as a coach, I know he has taken a huge step forward.”
