According to transfer reports, Leverkusen turned down an offer worth around €40 million from England for the Burkina Faso international, underlining just how highly the Bundesliga club values one of the most reliable centre-backs in German football.
Rather than entertaining a sale, the club have moved quickly to reward Tapsoba with a new long-term contract, with the 27-year-old now signed to improved terms that will place him among the highest-paid defenders in the squad.
Tapsoba has been a cornerstone of Leverkusen’s rise since arriving from Vitória Guimarães in January 2020. Calm in possession, physically dominant and tactically intelligent, he has grown into one of the first names on the team sheet and a vital presence in their back line.

His numbers reflect that consistency. Across 267 appearances for Die Werkself, Tapsoba has contributed 13 goals and eight assists while establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s standout defenders and attracting regular admiration from clubs across Europe.
With the club determined to remain competitive at the highest level, tying down Tapsoba is being viewed internally as just as important as any marquee signing they could make this summer.
