Harry Kane says Bayern Munich are still firmly alive in the Champions League semi-final after their dramatic 5-4 first-leg defeat to PSG in Paris.
Harry Kane remains convinced Bayern Munich can book their place in the Champions League final despite Tuesday’s breathless 5-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, insisting the Bavarians showed enough character and attacking quality in Paris to believe a turnaround is possible at the Allianz Arena.

For long stretches of the night, Bayern looked in danger of being blown away. PSG’s blistering attacking spell early in the second half saw the French champions surge into a 5-2 lead, and it briefly appeared as though Vincent Kompany’s side were heading back to Germany with an almost impossible mountain to climb.
Instead, Bayern produced the kind of response that has kept their European hopes alive all season. Goals from Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz inside three frantic minutes dragged the Bundesliga champions back into contention and transformed the mood of the tie, leaving just a single goal separating the two sides ahead of next week’s decisive second leg.
Kane, who opened the scoring in Paris with a composed first-half penalty, admitted Bayern had their own opportunities to inflict more damage on PSG and felt the match could easily have tilted in either direction. The England captain stressed that what mattered most was Bayern’s refusal to collapse when the contest threatened to run away from them.

According to Kane, Bayern can take enormous belief from the way they finished the game. Turning a 5-2 deficit into 5-4 away from home against one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking teams has given the dressing room renewed conviction that the job can be completed in Munich, particularly with the energy of the Allianz Arena expected to play a major role.
The striker also pointed to the overall balance of the encounter, describing it as a heavyweight battle between two elite teams willing to attack at every opportunity.
Kane now has 13 goals in this season’s Champions League and has become the first English player to score in six consecutive matches in the competition, but his focus is firmly on the bigger picture.

Bayern know they must be sharper in the final pass and more ruthless in front of goal, yet with only one goal to make up and a home crowd behind them, Kane believes the road to the final is still very much open.
