Arsenal lifted the Premier League trophy yesterday, for the first time in 22 years.
This season has been a historic one for Arsenal. Apart from lifting the Premier League title, they have been the best team in the league and one of the best teams in the world.
To win the Premier League, the Gunners had to get a total of 85 points. They had a total of 26 wins, 7 draws, and five losses. From their 26 wins, which guaranteed the trophy, we are going to highlight a few that were a bit more important to the title race.
Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal (Matchday 1)
Motivational speakers will say start as you mean to go, and Arsenal kicked off the season with a win over Manchester United on opening day. The only goal was from a corner, which characterized the rest of Arsenal’s season.
Arsenal 4-1 Aston Villa (Matchday 19)
Before this game, Arsenal had suffered a damaging last-minute loss to Aston Villa some weeks ago. That loss had temporarily caused panic for the Gunners, but Arsenal avenged the loss and showed that they had the mentality of champions when they beat Aston Villa 4-1 in the return leg. It was one of the many performances that showed that this season was different for Arsenal.
Tottenham 1-4 Arsenal (Matchday 27)
Getting closer to the run-in, Arsenal traveled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the North London derby vs Tottenham.
Manchester City were closing in on the Gunners, and they needed a win to restore confidence in the team. Eberechi Eze, who rejected Tottenham in the summer transfer window, ran riot as Arsenal won 4-1.

In the previous fixture between both teams, Eze was the hero as he got a hat-trick in Arsenal’s 4-1 win, and once again, he bagged a brace as Arsenal got the much needed-win.
Arsenal 2-0 Everton (Matchday 30)
Manchester City had just dropped points to Nottingham Forest, and Arsenal needed to take advantage of it.
Arsenal hosted Everton, who had a strong away form coming into the game. The game was a tough one for Arsenal as they struggled to break down a solid Everton defence. The game eventually turned on its head with the introduction of 16-year-old Max Dowman.
He added more strength and flair to Arsenal’s attack, and with just two minutes of regulation time left, he provided the assist for Gyokeres’ goal.
Many would’ve thought that Gyokeres’ goal would be the only one in the game, but Dowman had something to say as he carried the ball from his own half and tapped it into an empty net to make it 2-0 and become the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history.
Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle (Matchday 34)
Just like in previous seasons, the Premier League looked like it would slip from Arsenal’s grasp. The Gunners had just lost to Manchester City, who now took over the top spot in the table.
Arsenal needed a win to reinforce their beliefs, and Newcastle was the right opportunity to do that. It wasn’t a pretty performance, but it was a necessary one as the Gunners won courtesy of an early goal from Eberechi Eze. Winning was all that mattered, and it was all Arsenal cared about.
West Ham 0-1 Arsenal (Matchday 36)
Arsenal had just regained control of the title race, but if there was any team that could derail them at the closing moments of the Premier League season, it was a relegation-threatened West Ham.
The Hammers needed a win to avoid relegation, at least temporarily, while Arsenal needed all three points to move closer to the Premier League title.
The game was tense as Arsenal came close to scoring on many occasions but couldn’t get the ball into the net. Once the game got past the 60th minute, it felt like the result could go anywhere, and Arsenal fans were tense.
The game got even more tense when Matheus Fernandes made a surging run into the box but was stopped impressively by Raya. The run looked like it would end in a sure goal, but Raya somehow made a save that many felt had won Arsenal the league.
Arsenal finally got their goal in the 83rd minute when Trossard fired home from the edge of the box. West Ham then pulled level in the dying minutes of the game, but the goal was ruled out for a foul on Raya in the build-up.

Arsenal got all three points here, and with a bit of fortune after beating Burnley, Manchester City dropped points vs Bournemouth, giving Arsenal the trophy with a game to go.
