Club are in the market for another striker but the goal is to reduce the pressure on Hojlund, not replace him
Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has addressed growing rumours linking him with a summer switch to Inter Milan, insisting that he fully expects to remain at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old has endured a mixed start to life in Manchester, having scored just 26 goals in the two seasons since his move from Atalanta. Only 14 of those goals were in the Premier League, and he scored only four in the league last season.
Inter, who are planning an overhaul after narrowly missing out on both the Serie A title and Champions League glory, are said to be monitoring the Dane as they look to reinforce their frontline.
Despite the speculation and his poor form, United remain committed to keeping Hojlund and view him as a key part of their future. The club are in the market for another striker, but the goal is to reduce the pressure on Hojlund, not replace him.
Club sources have made it clear their No 9 will not be forced out, and would only be sold if he actively asked to leave.
“I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United,” Hojlund told TV 2 Sport after Denmark’s 2-1 win over Ireland.
“I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.
“I know I can’t get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United until 2030. I expect to play there, so I’m just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season.”
