Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has held talks with club directors over a contract extension until 2029 and plans for the future of the squad.
Inter manager Cristian Chivu reportedly met with club directors on Tuesday morning to discuss both his future at the club and Inter’s long-term plans heading into next season.
According to reports from Italy, the meeting took place at Inter’s headquarters, where discussions focused on extending Chivu’s current contract beyond its existing expiration date in June 2027.
The Nerazzurri are understood to have prepared a new deal that would keep the Romanian coach at the club until 2029, along with a significant salary increase following a highly successful campaign.

Inter’s hierarchy also used the meeting to discuss transfer plans and the future of key players ahead of the 2026/27 season.
One of the major topics was the future of Alessandro Bastoni, who has attracted strong interest from Barcelona, while potential new signings were also discussed as the club aims to strengthen the squad further.
Chivu has enjoyed an outstanding first full season in charge, guiding Inter to both the Serie A title and Coppa Italia to complete a domestic double.
The former Inter defender remains a hugely respected figure at the club after previously winning the historic 2010 treble under José Mourinho and later working with the club’s Primavera side before stepping into the senior managerial role.
