Tottenham Hotspur will look to put their embarrassing opening-day defeat behind them when they welcome Newcastle United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.
Roberto De Zerbi could hardly have imagined a worse start to his first full Premier League campaign with Spurs. Tottenham were completely outplayed in a 3-0 defeat at Brentford last weekend, with their expensive summer rebuild showing little sign of cohesion or intensity.
However, Wednesday’s 5-1 Carabao Cup victory over Charlton provided some much-needed encouragement. New signing Savio scored and assisted on his debut, while Mikey Moore, Dominic Solanke, Kevin Danso and Ben Davies also found the net.

Now, though, the level rises considerably.
Newcastle arrive in north London with plenty of confidence after fighting back from behind twice to beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 in the League Cup, while their new manager Matthias Jaissle also secured his first competitive victory.
Team News
Tottenham’s injury list remains a concern. Xavi Simons, Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert are among those who have been unavailable, while Pedro Porro and several other players have had fitness concerns following a demanding summer schedule.
Savio gives De Zerbi another attacking option, while Marmoush could also be involved following his move from Manchester City.
Newcastle will also be managing a squad in transition, with new signing Nico González already making his debut during the midweek League Cup victory over West Brom.
