Tottenham have valued Lucas Bergvall at £50m after Nottingham Forest opened talks with an initial £38m offer for the Swedish midfielder.
Nottingham Forest have opened discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential move for midfielder Lucas Bergvall as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The Sweden international has emerged as one of Forest’s priority targets in the transfer market.

Initial talks have already taken place between the two Premier League clubs, with Forest submitting an opening proposal worth around £38 million for the 20-year-old midfielder. However, the bid falls well short of Tottenham’s valuation.
Spurs are understood to value Bergvall at approximately £50 million, creating a significant gap between the two clubs. While negotiations remain ongoing, Forest are expected to return with an improved offer in the coming days.
Despite planning another bid, sources suggest Nottingham Forest are reluctant to meet Tottenham’s full asking price. Their next proposal is expected to exceed £40 million, although it remains unclear whether it will be enough to convince Spurs to sell.
The negotiations also come against the backdrop of last summer’s failed Morgan Gibbs-White transfer. Tottenham activated the midfielder’s reported £60 million release clause, only for Forest to block the deal and threaten legal action over alleged breaches of confidentiality, bringing the move to an abrupt halt.
Although that episode remains fresh in the minds of both clubs, Tottenham insist it is not influencing their current stance. Club officials believe Bergvall’s valuation accurately reflects both his talent and the current transfer market, rather than serving as any form of retaliation.
Tottenham remain open to allowing Bergvall to leave if their valuation is met. There have also been renewed whispers that Spurs still admire Gibbs-White, although no concrete move has materialised since last year’s failed negotiations.
Forest view Bergvall as the ideal replacement for Elliot Anderson, who recently completed a £116 million transfer to Manchester City. With the need to reinforce their midfield growing, discussions between the clubs are expected to continue as Nottingham Forest weigh up whether to move closer to Tottenham’s £50 million asking price.
