Manchester City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Elliot Anderson for £130m.

A deal was struck after City improved their previous offer. Forest had sought a guaranteed fee exceeding the £125m Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last summer, a British transfer record. Earlier this month, City made a bid worth £106m up front with add-ons that could have taken the package beyond £120m. It was rejected by Forest.

A sum north of £106m guaranteed would represent a significant return for Forest, who signed Anderson from Newcastle in 2024 in a deal worth £35m.

Since arriving at the City Ground, Anderson has established himself as a key figure for the club, making 92 appearances in all competitions. He featured in every Premier League match last season, providing four goals and four assists.

The 23-year-old is with the England squad in the US but has been granted permission to undergo a medical before completing the move.

Anderson made his England debut in September and earned a place in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, starting the opening group-stage matches against Croatia and Ghana. He is expected to retain his place when England face Panama on Saturday.
