Newly-crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan delivered another commanding display with a 3-0 victory over Lazio, as Lautaro Martinez inspired the Nerazzurri to extend their unbeaten streak ahead of the Coppa Italia final.
Fresh from sealing another Serie A title, Inter Milan showed no signs of slowing down as they comfortably defeated Lazio 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico. The newly-crowned champions produced a ruthless and controlled performance against a Lazio side reduced to 10 men in the second half, extending Inter’s unbeaten run against the Biancocelesti to nine matches in all competitions.
Both managers made several changes with one eye firmly on Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final, but Inter’s rotated side still looked sharp from the opening whistle. Cristian Chivu’s team wasted little time asserting control and struck after just six minutes through Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, whose growing partnership once again proved decisive.
The opening goal came from a long throw launched into the Lazio penalty area by Yann Bisseck. Thuram reacted quickest to flick the ball on, and Martinez showed the instincts of a world-class striker by finishing clinically from close range. It marked only the Argentine’s third appearance since February, but he looked immediately back in rhythm as Inter continued their post-title celebrations in style.
Lazio attempted to respond and enjoyed brief spells of possession, yet they struggled to seriously trouble Josep Martinez in the Inter goal. Tijjani Noslin forced a routine save from a free-kick, while Gustav Isaksen tried to inject some urgency into the attack, but Inter always looked more dangerous whenever they moved forward.
Inter doubled their lead before the break after another slick attacking move involving Martinez. The Argentine combined brilliantly with Andy Diouf before calmly laying the ball into the path of Petar Sucic, who swept a composed finish beyond Edoardo Motta from the edge of the area.

Any realistic hopes Lazio had of mounting a comeback were dealt a huge blow shortly before the hour mark. Following a lengthy VAR review, Alessio Romagnoli was shown a straight red card for dragging his studs down Ange-Yoan Bonny’s leg in a reckless challenge. The dismissal shifted the momentum even further in Inter’s favour and left the hosts chasing shadows for long stretches of the second half.
To Lazio’s credit, they continued searching for a route back into the contest. Isaksen remained lively and forced a sharp stop, while Carlos Augusto produced an excellent defensive clearance to deny what looked a certain goal. However, the Biancocelesti’s frustration grew as chances came and went, and Inter eventually punished them once more when Henrikh Mkhitaryan found space in the box and drilled home the visitors’ third goal in the 76th minute.
The result underlined Inter’s relentless mentality even after securing the league title. The Nerazzurri are now unbeaten in nine matches across all competitions and head into the Coppa Italia final full of confidence as they continue pursuing a domestic double.
Lazio, meanwhile, suffered only their second defeat in 11 matches, but the manner of the loss exposed the gap that still exists between them and the champions.
