Inter Clinch Historic 21st Scudetto with 2-0 Win Over Parma

Inter Milan were crowned Serie A champions for the 21st time after a composed 2-0 win over Parma at San Siro, sealing the title in front of their home supporters.

Inter Milan were officially crowned Serie A champions for the 21st time after a composed 2-0 victory over Parma at San Siro, sealing the Scudetto with two games still to spare.

Knowing that Napoli’s goalless draw the previous day meant a single point would be enough, the Nerazzurri ensured there would be no suspense by getting the job done in front of a jubilant home crowd.

The champions-elect did not have everything their own way in the opening exchanges, however. Parma, already safe from relegation and unbeaten in four coming into the clash, showed early ambition and almost stunned the hosts when Enrico Del Prato found space for a close-range header.

Inter survived that scare and soon began to settle, with Denzel Dumfries nodding narrowly wide after meeting a teasing ball from Nicolo Barella.

Parma continued to show they had not arrived merely to make up the numbers. Mateo Pellegrino wasted a decent chance with a rushed volley, while Inter responded by going agonisingly close midway through the first half.

Barella combined brilliantly with Petar Sučić and Pio Esposito before crashing a fierce effort against the underside of the crossbar, with goalkeeper Zion Suzuki scrambling desperately to prevent the rebound from being turned in.

As the half wore on, Parma looked increasingly capable of frustrating the title party, especially having recorded clean sheets in their previous two matches. But in first-half stoppage time, Inter finally found the incision they needed. Piotr Zielinski slid a perfectly weighted through ball into Marcus Thuram, and the in-form striker took a touch before coolly guiding his finish beyond Suzuki to send San Siro into celebration mode.

The second half lacked the frantic urgency of a side chasing a title because Inter quickly looked in complete control. Parma offered very little threat, while Cristian Chivu’s men calmly dictated possession and territory. Federico Dimarco, once again one of Inter’s most influential outlets, repeatedly surged down the left and delivered dangerous low crosses, though Dumfries and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were unable to convert his inviting deliveries at first.

There was a brief delay to the inevitable when substitute Lautaro Martinez fired Inter’s first shot on target of the half straight at Suzuki, but the captain made amends moments later by turning provider. His low ball from the right found Henrikh Mkhitaryan arriving in the middle, and the midfielder slid home from close range to double the advantage and remove any lingering doubt about the destination of the title.

That second goal effectively turned the closing minutes into a coronation. Parma had a late consolation ruled out by the offside flag, but by then San Siro was already celebrating Inter’s return to the summit of Italian football.

It marks a second Scudetto in three seasons for the Nerazzurri, a 21st league crown overall, and further confirmation that this Inter side have re-established themselves as the dominant force in Serie A.
