Declan Rice has praised Arsenal supporters after the Gunners’ unforgettable Champions League win over Atletico Madrid, describing the Emirates atmosphere as the best he has ever witnessed.
Declan Rice admitted he was left blown away by the atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium after Arsenal powered past Atletico Madrid to book their place in the Champions League final.
On a night charged with tension, emotion and expectation, the Gunners produced a memorable performance to overcome the LaLiga side, but Rice was quick to insist that the supporters played just as important a role as the players on the pitch.
The England midfielder described the occasion as the finest he has experienced since arriving in north London, even placing it above last season’s dramatic European showdown against Real Madrid because of the sheer intensity generated from before kick-off until the final whistle.

“I can’t describe it to be honest with you,” Rice told Arsenal media after the match. “It’s been coming, this night at the Emirates in general. I think it’s the best night at the Emirates that I’ve witnessed, even better than the Real Madrid game last year.”
Rice revealed that the players knew instantly this would be a different kind of evening when the team bus approached the stadium and was met by a sea of supporters, flares and deafening noise that forced the coach to slow down.
“From the moment we drove in today, the coaches stopped and we thought, ‘What’s going on?’ Because usually we just drive straight in, and the next thing we just see all the flares and the fans. The goosebumps from all the players looking out the window, it was just incredible,” he added.
That emotion carried into the stadium itself, where the midfielder said the noise from the stands gave the squad a surge of adrenaline at key moments of the contest, especially when fatigue began to set in during a draining battle against Diego Simeone’s stubborn side.

“I’ve not seen the Emirates like that, so a big thank you to the fans because we needed that,” Rice said. “Even if you’re tired, it just gives you that energy to keep going, and I think they played a massive part tonight in making us win.” With Arsenal now heading to the Champions League final, Rice believes this may go down as one of the defining nights in the club’s modern history.
