Bayern Munich have reportedly made initial contact with Newcastle United over a summer move for Anthony Gordon.

Bayern Munich have begun laying the groundwork for a potential summer swoop for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, with reports in England claiming the Bundesliga champions have already opened initial discussions over a possible transfer.

According to reports, Bayern’s conversations with Newcastle are still at an early stage, with no formal negotiations yet underway, but the German giants are clearly assessing whether a deal can realistically be pushed forward in the coming months.

The interest is said to be serious enough that Bayern have also moved on the player side. Recent reports state that the Bavarians have already submitted an initial proposal to Gordon’s representatives, outlining a five-year contract as they attempt to convince the England international that Munich could be his next destination.

That suggests Bayern are confident they can make progress on personal terms, with Gordon viewed internally as a player capable of adding direct pace, relentless pressing and greater unpredictability to Vincent Kompany’s frontline heading into next season.

The biggest complication, however, lies with Newcastle’s valuation. The Magpies are understood to consider Gordon one of their key long-term assets and are reportedly demanding as much as €90 million before even contemplating a sale this summer.

That figure is significantly above what Bayern are thought to regard as fair market value. Previous reports from Germany, particularly via Bild, suggested the Bundesliga champions see a fee closer to €70 million as a far more realistic number for a deal of this nature.

A substantial gap therefore remains between the two clubs, meaning any move is still far from straightforward. But Bayern’s early contact shows they are willing to test Newcastle’s resolve, and with the transfer window approaching, Gordon has now emerged as one of the headline names on the German champions’ attacking shortlist.
