João Palhinha scores late as Tottenham beat Wolves 1-0 for their first Premier League win of 2026, keeping survival hopes alive.

Tottenham Hotspur earned a desperately needed boost in their fight for Premier League survival after a late 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

The result ended Tottenham’s miserable wait for a first league win of 2026 and prevented them from slipping into what would have been their longest-ever top-flight winless streak.

Facing already-relegated Wolves, Tottenham knew anything less than three points would severely damage their hopes of staying up. Under Roberto De Zerbi, performances had shown slight improvement, but results had remained elusive.

Despite starting brightly, Tottenham struggled to create meaningful openings in a flat first half. Neither side managed a shot on target, and the game lacked the urgency expected from a survival showdown. Tottenham were also dealt injury concerns, with Dominic Solanke forced off and later Xavi Simons leaving the field on a stretcher, adding to an already growing list of unavailable players.

As the pressure mounted in the second half, Wolves began to look increasingly dangerous, while Tottenham continued to labor in front of goal. A header from Rodrigo Bentancur finally forced José Sá into action, signaling a late push from the visitors.

That push was rewarded in the 82nd minute when Pedro Porro’s corner caused chaos in the area. Richarlison managed to dig out an effort, and João Palhinha reacted quickest to turn the ball in from close range.

The victory gives Tottenham renewed hope, although they remain in the final relegation spot, still two points behind safety with four games left. For De Zerbi, the clean sheet and fighting spirit offer encouragement, but survival is still far from secured.
