Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer admitted his side lacked the killer mentality needed to overcome PSG after the German giants crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals.
Manuel Neuer admitted Bayern Munich were left frustrated by their lack of ruthlessness after their Champions League campaign ended in dramatic fashion against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
PSG booked their place in the final against Arsenal after earning a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena, securing a thrilling 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern across the two semi-final legs.
Despite scoring 175 goals in all competitions this season, Bayern struggled to break down the reigning European champions for much of the contest. Harry Kane eventually found the net deep into stoppage time, but the late strike came too late to change the outcome.

Neuer believed Bayern created enough opportunities to score earlier in the match but felt PSG showed greater composure and decisiveness in key moments. “We didn’t have big chances today, but we still created enough to score,” Neuer said. “We missed the killer mentality that PSG had to score the goals.”
The Bayern captain also admitted the late equaliser left his side with no time to mount a final push for extra time, describing the goal as arriving too late to truly shift the momentum of the tie.
Head coach Vincent Kompany echoed Neuer’s assessment after the match, acknowledging Bayern needed to be more clinical while also praising PSG for their efficiency over the two legs.
Kompany insisted the disappointment would eventually serve as motivation for the future, as Bayern now turn their attention toward completing a domestic double after already winning the Bundesliga and reaching the German Cup final. The defeat, however, extended Bayern’s frustrating run in Europe, with the German giants still waiting for their first successful two-legged Champions League semi-final since 2013.
