Liverpool have stepped up their efforts to sign RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande and will be sending in a second bid with a total value close to €100m.

The Premier League club submitted an earlier bid for the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international but it was much less than €100m and was turned down by Leipzig.

There is no indication that the German club will accept this latest bid. Leipzig have shown very little interest in selling Diomande but if they do let him go they are expecting a fee worth more than €130m.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the player but have yet to submit a formal offer. Liverpool are understood to be ahead of the French and European champions in discussions over personal terms.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Diomande comes as they aim to add elite young talent to their wings. The club made it known towards the end of last season, through former coach Arne Slot, that they would invest heavily in their flanks after the departures of Luis Diaz in 2025 and Mohamed Salah this summer.

They have already agreed a deal to sign Spain winger Victor Munoz and continue to assess alternative targets should negotiations with Leipzig for Diomande prove unsuccessful.

Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, FC Koln’s Said El Mala and Lille attacker Matias Fernandez-Pardo are among the players being monitored.

Diomande’s reputation has risen remarkably after just one season in Germany. The forward produced 12 goals and nine assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances as Leipzig finished third and secured qualification for next season’s Champions League. He missed only one league match, and that was due to international duty with Ivory Coast.

The teenager is currently representing his country at the World Cup and started their opening match against Ecuador, which they won 1-0.
