Vincent Kompany says Bayern Munich are ready to make history in Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against PSG, with the Bavarians determined to turn belief into an unforgettable Allianz Arena occasion.

Vincent Kompany believes Bayern Munich are on the verge of creating a special European night as the Bundesliga champions prepare for their decisive Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Bavarians head into the clash at the Allianz Arena trailing 5-4 from a breathtaking first leg in Paris, where they showed tremendous spirit to fight back from 5-2 down and keep the tie very much alive. With a place in the final now just one game away, Kompany says belief has swept through both the dressing room and the stands.

Speaking ahead of the contest, the Bayern coach admitted few outside the club expected them to be in this position when the campaign began. But after a season filled with growth, resilience and major moments, he feels everyone connected with Bayern senses that something memorable is within reach.

“There is this feeling that together we will take the next steps,” Kompany said. “Few believed at the start of the season that we would have a chance with the last home game to reach the Champions League final. Now we are here, we have experienced great moments, and the fans believe we will make it. Together we want to make this moment unforgettable.”

Kompany’s men have already wrapped up the Bundesliga title and remain on course for a domestic double with the German Cup final against Stuttgart still to come later this month. Yet all eyes are now fixed on Europe, where Bayern have the chance to return to the biggest stage of club football after a dramatic resurgence under the Belgian manager.

Despite the enormous stakes and the electric atmosphere expected in Munich, Kompany insisted he is approaching the occasion with complete calmness. The former Manchester City captain stressed that emotional control is just as important as tactical preparation, and that his focus is on delivering the final details that could tilt such a finely balanced contest.

“Total calmness, internal calmness,” he explained. “Not just before this game, but I try not to let the feeling of the game play too early. Do the routine calmly, find the right words for tomorrow and search for that last phrase that can influence the one per cent. We want to win the match, we have ideas that we believe will help us do that, and that is the priority.”

With Bayern’s home crowd expected to generate one of the loudest nights the Allianz Arena has seen in years, Kompany is hoping that unity between players and supporters can drive the German giants over the line. After surviving the first-leg storm in Paris, Bayern now believe the return leg offers the perfect stage to write a new chapter in their European story.
