Juventus are pushing to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer, but salary demands could prove a major hurdle in negotiations.

Juventus are reportedly stepping up their interest in Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Portuguese star increasingly open to a fresh challenge.

Silva has spent close to a decade at Manchester City, becoming one of the club’s most successful and decorated players during a golden era under Pep Guardiola. Despite City’s desire to keep him, reports suggest the 31-year-old is now seriously considering bringing his time in England to an end as he weighs up the next stage of his career.

Several top European clubs are monitoring the situation closely, but Juventus are understood to be among the sides pushing hardest to convince Silva to move to Turin.

The Bianconeri view the Portugal international as a player capable of immediately improving the quality, experience and leadership within their midfield as they look to remain competitive at the highest level. Juventus believe Silva’s experience in both the Premier League and Champions League would make him an ideal fit for their long-term project, and they are eager to offer him a central role within the squad.

The possibility of signing the midfielder on a free transfer has only intensified interest across Europe, although Juventus remain confident they can present an attractive sporting proposal.

However, finances are emerging as a major obstacle in negotiations, with Silva reportedly demanding around €8 million net per season,  a figure that exceeds Juventus’ current wage structure. Juventus are believed to prefer a salary closer to €6 million net annually, similar to the earnings of key players such as Kenan Yildiz, meaning both sides may need to compromise if a deal is to be completed before the summer window officially opens.
