Inter will meet Cristian Romero’s representatives this week as talks with Tottenham continue.
Inter Milan are stepping up their pursuit of Cristian Romero, with fresh talks planned between the Serie A champions and the defender’s representatives as they continue negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur.
Reports have confirmed that Inter have already opened discussions with Tottenham over a possible transfer for the Argentina international, who has emerged as one of the club’s priority defensive targets.
A meeting between Inter officials and Romero’s entourage is scheduled to take place this week. The discussions are expected to focus on the player’s willingness to return to Serie A and the terms of a potential contract.
While personal negotiations are progressing, reaching an agreement with Tottenham is expected to be far more complicated. Reports suggest the North London club are demanding around €50 million to part ways with the 28-year-old centre-back.
Romero is no stranger to Italian football, having previously impressed during spells with Genoa and Atalanta before earning his move to Tottenham. Across his time in Serie A, he made 88 league appearances and established himself as one of the division’s top defenders.
The Argentine remains under contract with Tottenham until June 2029, leaving Spurs in a strong negotiating position despite growing interest from Inter and other European clubs.
Inter have cooled their interest in Tottenham wing-back Djed Spence after Spurs significantly increased their valuation following his impressive performances at the World Cup. The asking price is now believed to be close to €50 million.
