Inter Milan are preparing a new long-term deal for Federico Dimarco after the Italian wing-back’s sensational season, with the Nerazzurri eager to reward their assist-record-breaking star.
Inter Milan are preparing to tie down one of the standout performers of their title charge, with reports in Italy suggesting the club will move quickly to extend Federico Dimarco’s contract in two separate stages.
The decision comes after a phenomenal campaign from the wing-back, who has not only become indispensable to Chivu’s system but has also written his name into Serie A history with a record-breaking creative output.
Dimarco has been nothing short of extraordinary throughout the 2025/26 season. Operating from the left flank, his crossing, set-piece quality and vision in transition have repeatedly unlocked stubborn defences, turning him from a reliable starter into a genuine MVP candidate in a side currently sitting top of the league.

Most notably, the Italy international has now broken Serie A’s all-time single-season assist record. Having surged past the previous benchmark with his 18th assist of the campaign, Dimarco has achieved something no player in the modern history of the division has managed.

For Inter, those numbers have only reinforced how vital he is to the club’s future. Dimarco is far more than a conventional wing-back, he is often the player responsible for progressing attacks, stretching opposition shape, and supplying the final ball into dangerous areas. In many matches this season, Inter’s attacking rhythm has flowed directly through his left foot, making his retention a priority as interest from abroad inevitably begins to grow.
Although Dimarco is currently contracted until 2027, that deal would technically place him on the edge of the final year by the start of the next summer window. Inter, however, are under no pressure. The Nerazzurri already hold an option to extend his agreement by an additional 12 months, taking him through to 2028, and they are expected to trigger that clause as the first step in securing his long-term future.

Once that safeguard is activated, the club plans to open talks over a fresh two-year extension that would keep Dimarco at San Siro until the summer of 2030. Such an agreement would almost certainly include improved financial terms as recognition for a season in which he has elevated himself into one of the finest attacking wing-backs in European football.
Reports indicate both player and club are fully aligned on continuing the partnership.
