Bonny, who is of Ivorian heritage, is widely expected to be included in Ivory Coast’s 26-man World Cup squad when it is announced later this week. The young striker enjoyed an impressive campaign with Inter this season, playing an important role in their Serie A title-winning run and scoring five league goals, many of them coming as an impactful substitute.
His decision gives Ivory Coast another attacking option ahead of the tournament, where they have been drawn into a challenging Group E alongside Ecuador, Germany and Curacao.
Bonny could make his senior debut for the Ivorians before the World Cup begins, with a friendly match against France scheduled to take place in Lens on June 4.
