Fenerbahce have reportedly agreed a €40 million plus €2 million add-ons deal for Mason Greenwood, beating Roma to the Marseille forward.
Roma appear to have lost the race to sign Mason Greenwood after Fenerbahce reportedly reached an agreement with Olympique Marseille for the England forward.
The Turkish giants are said to have agreed a deal worth €40 million plus a further €2 million in performance-related bonuses.
Greenwood had been identified as Roma’s top attacking target this summer, with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini eager to strengthen the right side of his front three ahead of the club’s return to the UEFA Champions League.
Marseille had initially valued the 24-year-old at around €50 million, and although Roma were prepared to offer a competitive transfer fee, they were unable to match the lucrative salary package proposed by Fenerbahce.

Reports suggest the Turkish club offered Greenwood a contract worth approximately €10 million per season.
According to reports in France, intensive negotiations between Fenerbahce and Marseille were concluded successfully, with the clubs settling on a transfer worth €40 million plus €2 million in add-ons. Greenwood is now expected to sign a four-year contract with the Istanbul club.
Manchester United are also set to benefit financially from the move. As part of Greenwood’s €26 million transfer to Marseille in 2024, the Premier League side retained a clause entitling them to 40 percent of any future profit made from his sale.
That arrangement means Marseille will reportedly receive around €35.6 million from the transfer, while Manchester United are expected to pocket approximately €6.4 million from the profit generated by the sale.

Despite Gasperini’s strong desire to bring Greenwood to the Italian capital, sections of the Roma fanbase opposed the move, with supporters launching a petition urging the club not to sign the forward because of his controversial past.
On the pitch, however, Greenwood enjoyed an outstanding campaign in France, scoring 26 goals and providing 11 assists last season, although Marseille officials were reportedly left disappointed by his attitude and were willing to sanction his departure.
