Needing a strong result to mathematically seal their place among Europe’s elite again, Dortmund wasted no time imposing themselves on a Freiburg side perhaps distracted by their upcoming Europa League commitments.
The hosts struck inside eight minutes when Ramy Bensebaini’s clever ball over the top released Maximilian Beier, who cut in confidently before firing under goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.
That early breakthrough only increased Dortmund’s control, and they doubled their lead soon after through Serhou Guirassy, who finished from close range after Julian Brandt supplied an excellent cross into the box.
With Freiburg struggling to contain the waves of pressure, Dortmund made it three before halftime as Bensebaini rose unmarked from a Julian Ryerson corner to nod home and cap a commanding first-half display. The visitors attempted to respond after the break and briefly thought they had found a route back into the contest, only for Lukas Kubler’s header from Vincenzo Grifo’s delivery to be ruled out for offside.
Dortmund were happy to absorb Freiburg’s limited pressure from there, knowing the game was effectively under control, while waiting patiently for another opening to kill off any lingering doubt.

That final blow arrived late on when substitute Daniel Svensson delivered into a crowded area and Fabio Silva turned smartly to guide a composed finish into the bottom corner.
The emphatic win guarantees Dortmund an 11th straight season in the Champions League and underlines their strong finish to the Bundesliga campaign, while Freiburg must now balance their fading league hopes with the possibility of reaching Europe’s top competition through the Europa League.
