Back to winning ways against Bournemouth
Chelsea have much to celebrate here. It is not every day Bournemouth get beaten 5-1. Jordan Henderson was signed this summer for his much-needed experience in a relatively young group but he did much more here, scoring twice and providing an assist as Xabi Alonso’s side claimed their first Premier League victory in four matches.
The 36-year-old midfielder opened the scoring inside two minutes before setting up Morgan Rogers for Chelsea’s second. Joao Pedro struck twice after the break, and then Henderson completed the rout with a superb free-kick into the top corner as the hosts punished Bournemouth’s defensive weaknesses.

Brentford Sting Chelsea in 3-0 Win
Brentford have given Xabi Alonso a lot to think about going into the international break, after beating Chelsea 3-0.
Xabi Alonso has been taught a bitter lesson on how things work in the Premier League by Brentford’s Keith Andrews. Chelsea have been known for their high-scoring games, but against Brentford, that free-flowing attack was nowhere to be found.

Chelsea 2-2 Hull City
Chelsea forced to settle for a point against unbeaten Hull
Chelsea surrendered an early lead before drawing 2-2 with Hull City at Stamford Bridge. Morgan Rogers put the hosts ahead after seven minutes, but Mohamed Belloumi scored twice in six minutes to put Hull in front.
João Pedro restored parity in the second half, but Chelsea could not find a winner as Hull held on for a valuable point and extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Xabi Alonso Loses First London Derby in Charge
It was always going to be a tough game, and it was an even tougher lesson for Xabi Alonso as Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in his first major London derby.
Chelsea gave it a tough crack, and there were a lot of positives for Alonso, especially given that the midfield was non-existent. Emi Martinez showed he was worth the money, making eight saves, and he would not forget Gabriel’s kick to his head in a hurry.

For Alonso, he joins a long list of Chelsea managers who are yet to beat Arsenal and Mikel Arteta. Chelsea haven’t beaten Arsenal since 2021 and the focus will be on finding a balance in midfield and grinding out results just like they have done before the Arsenal game.
Enzo Fernandez Leaves Chelsea in Dramatic Deadline Day Move
Chelsea’s summer clearout took a dramatic turn on deadline day when Enzo Fernandez finally left Stamford Bridge for Manchester City in a deal worth £125 million.
Chelsea had previously set City a deadline to make an offer for the Argentine midfielder, but after that passed without a bid, it appeared Fernandez would remain at the club. City returned on deadline day with a British-record-equalling offer, however, and Chelsea eventually sanctioned the move.

With Fernandez gone, Chelsea immediately moved for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as his replacement. A deal worth around £47 million appeared to have been agreed, but the transfer spectacularly collapsed in the final hours of the window after Monaco pulled out. Chelsea were therefore left with the £125 million from Fernandez but without the midfielder they had hoped would fill his place.

Chelsea Make It Two Wins From Two In The Premier League
Chelsea welcomed Brighton and Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge in their second Premier League game of the season, and just like they did against Fulham, it was an exciting watch.
Chelsea scored three goals in the first half with Joao Pedro, Lavia and Pedro Neto getting on the scoresheet. The Blues then slipped defensively and conceded two goals, turning a game that almost looked done and dusted into an edgy game. Cole Palmer added a fourth for Chelsea to restore their two-goal lead, but the defence once again crumbled in the dying minutes of the game to end it 4-3.

Chelsea Beat Luton Town to Reach EFL Cup Third Round
Chelsea made it back-to-back wins under Xabi Alonso as they beat Luton Town in the second round of the EFL Cup.
It was a good fixture for fringe players to get minutes. Valentin Barco took full advantage of the minutes handed to him as he put in a brilliant performance. More impressively, Danny Welbeck made his Chelsea debut and scored the opening goal of the game as Chelsea went on to win 2-0.

Fulham 2-3 Chelsea: Alonso Begins Reign With Derby Win
There’s no better way to begin your tenure as head coach than getting a win over your local rivals.
Chelsea beat Fulham 3-2 in a tightly contested London derby on opening day. Winning wasn’t the best part; the performance from Chelsea’s front three was. Joao Pedro opened the scoring in the first 30 seconds of the game thanks to an assist from Cole Palmer.

Morgan Rogers got off the mark on his debut and, even better, he was assisted by fellow debutant Maxence Lacroix. Cole Palmer then got on the score sheet; this time, Joao Pedro was the provider.
