Trevoh Chalobah is set to join Como in a deal worth up to €36m, marking the departure of another Chelsea academy graduate as the Blues continue reshaping their squad.
Chelsea’s summer rebuild is set to claim another academy graduate, with Trevoh Chalobah closing in on a permanent move to Serie A side Como.
The Blues have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the ambitious Italian club, bringing an end to Chalobah’s long association with the Stamford Bridge outfit and handing Cesc Fabregas one of his priority transfer targets.
The agreement is understood to be worth a fixed €30 million, with an additional €6 million in performance-related bonuses and a sell-on clause included in the deal. With the financial details now settled, the 26-year-old is expected to travel to Italy to complete the formalities before beginning the next chapter of his career under Fabregas.
Another Chelsea Academy Graduate Moves On
Chalobah’s departure carries more significance than just another transfer. It marks the exit of yet another player who rose through Chelsea’s renowned academy before representing the first team.
The defender joined Chelsea as a youngster and progressed through every level of the club’s youth system before making his senior breakthrough.

Following productive loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and French side Lorient, Chalobah established himself in the Chelsea first team, making 151 appearances across all competitions while earning praise for his consistency, versatility and professionalism.
However, despite remaining a respected member of the dressing room, opportunities became increasingly limited. Chelsea’s continued investment in new defenders meant Chalobah faced an uphill battle for regular minutes, making a permanent departure appear inevitable this summer.
His exit also continues a growing trend that Chelsea supporters have become accustomed to in recent years. Several homegrown players have left Stamford Bridge as the club prioritises a squad overhaul under its current ownership, with academy graduates often sacrificed to create space for new arrivals while also helping the club balance its finances.
