Chelsea is considering signing Sporting CP striker Conrad Harder, which could open the door for Nicolas Jackson’s permanent departure to Bayern Munich.
Chelsea has made contact with Sporting CP regarding the potential signing of striker Conrad Harder, a move that could push Nicolas Jackson’s permanent transfer to Bayern Munich.
The Blues had initially allowed Jackson to depart, but Liam Delap’s injury in their match against Fulham has complicated matters. Delap is expected to be out for up to two months, prompting Chelsea to reassess their striker situation.
The potential signing of Harder is seen as a solution to Chelsea’s centre-forward problem. Described as “special” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Harder has impressed with nine goals and six assists in just 1,306 minutes of action. Chelsea believes Harder’s style suits Enzo Maresca’s tactics and is willing to invest in him.
Chelsea’s interest in Harder is not without competition, as Arsenal and West Ham United have also been monitoring the young striker. However, Chelsea’s determination to sign Harder may give them an edge in the negotiations. The deal could be worth around £42 million, despite Harder’s release clause being £67 million.
As things stand, Chelsea expects Jackson to rejoin the first-team squad, but contingency plans are in place. Jackson’s potential departure to Bayern Munich seems likely if Chelsea can secure a new striker. With Joao Pedro likely to be the main man in attack, Jackson’s role in the team appears limited.
Chelsea has multiple players capable of playing in various roles, including Tyrique George, Cole Palmer, and Pedro Neto. However, adding another centre-forward could strengthen their squad and provide Maresca with more options.
