Dispute reportedly involved payments Barcelona were supposed to receive for the game

Barcelona’s pre-season match against Vissel Kobe in Japan will go ahead as originally planned after a contractual dispute with the event promoter was settled, the club confirmed on Friday.

The Sunday fixture in Tokyo had been called off this week due to what Barcelona described as a “serious breach of contract”.

However, following talks between the club and the promoter, the issues have now been resolved, allowing the La Liga champions to proceed with the opening leg of their Asia tour.

Barcelona have since travelled to Japan and are expected to field a full squad for the friendly against Vissel Kobe.

The match will be the first of three planned games in Asia, with two further fixtures to follow in South Korea – against FC Seoul on 31 July and Daegu FC on 4 August.

Sources familiar with the situation said the dispute involved payments Barcelona were supposed to receive for the game. The club had initially withdrawn from the fixture, citing a failure to meet agreed financial terms.

Talks resumed shortly after the announcement, and both sides moved quickly to get the fixture back on schedule.

Barcelona had been willing to honour their remaining commitments in South Korea even if the Japan game had remained off, but Friday’s agreement means the full tour will now go ahead as planned.
