Chelsea are on the verge of signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in a £55 million deal.
The 20-year-old English player has agreed to a seven-year contract with Chelsea and is currently undergoing medical tests.
Bynoe-Gittens was a key target for Chelsea to replace Jadon Sancho, who returned to Manchester United after his loan spell. The Blues had initially bid £42 million for the winger, but Dortmund rejected the offer, seeking £60 million. However, Chelsea eventually agreed to pay £55 million, and the deal is expected to be finalized soon.
The young winger will not be able to play in the ongoing Club World Cup for Chelsea, having already appeared in the competition for Dortmund.
If the deal is completed, Bynoe-Gittens would join Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr as Chelsea’s latest signings, with midfielder Andrey Santos also set to return from his loan spell at Strasbourg.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk remains provisionally suspended after being charged by the FA with violating its anti-doping rules. Despite this, Chelsea continues to shape its squad for the upcoming season, with Bynoe-Gittens expected to bring pace and creativity to the team.
