Onana remains under contract until 2028, with an option to extend for a further year; United are not believed to be in a rush to move the goalkeeper on
Manchester United are not actively pushing Andre Onana towards the exit this summer, but they are prepared to listen to offers for the goalkeeper if the right deal presents itself.
Despite ongoing rumours linking the Cameroon international with a move to Saudi Arabia, including newly promoted Neom SC, sources say there is “zero substance” to any current talk of negotiations.
The claims follow reports that the Saudi Pro League side had made Onana a key target after sealing top-flight promotion. However, those close to both Onana and Neom SC have dismissed suggestions that any talks have taken place.
“Regarding Saudi Arabia, there is zero substance between Neom SC and Andre Onana,” a source close to the situation told The United Stand.
“No advanced talks, no done deal, not even a desire to bring the player to Neom SC. Wider Saudi interest, yes, but it’s not developed to the point of even a non-binding offer to Onana.”
Onana, who arrived at Old Trafford last summer from Inter Milan in a £48 million deal, has faced criticism throughout his time at United, particularly after a series of high-profile errors. His performances in both domestic and European competitions have raised questions over whether the club should pursue a new No 1 heading into the 2025–26 season.
The 29-year-old remains under contract until 2028, with an option to extend for a further year. United are not believed to be in a rush to move the goalkeeper on, but there is an acknowledgment behind the scenes that his future could hinge on what kind of interest materialises in the coming weeks.
“I think the situation is open and for the right offer, Manchester United will entertain a sale,” the source added. “But I don’t think they’re desperately trying to push the goalkeeper out.”
