Savio scored and assisted on his Tottenham debut as Spurs bounced back from their Brentford defeat with a 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Charlton.

Three days after being embarrassed 3-0 by Brentford, Roberto De Zerbi’s side produced exactly the response their supporters were demanding, putting the Championship visitors to the sword at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
For the Spurs faithful, there was even more reason to smile as new signing Savio marked his debut with a goal and an assist, immediately showing why Tottenham were willing to spend heavily to bring him to north London.
There was no room for another sluggish start, and Tottenham wasted little time taking control against Charlton. Mikey Moore broke the deadlock, giving the home side the early advantage and settling some of the nerves around the stadium.
Dominic Solanke then added a second to put Spurs firmly in command before Charlton could seriously threaten to make the contest uncomfortable.
Unlike the defeat at Brentford, Tottenham looked far more aggressive in the final third and moved the ball with considerably more purpose.
The introduction of Kevin Danso only made matters worse for Charlton. The defender had barely stepped onto the pitch when he rose to head home with his first touch of the game, effectively putting the contest beyond the visitors.
The biggest cheer of the night, however, was reserved for Savio.

The debutant scored and provided an assist, playing a major role in Spurs’ dominant second-half display. Savio’s performance could hardly have been a better beginning.
Charlton eventually found something to celebrate when Jones headed home a consolation goal, rewarding the Championship side for their strong start to the season despite being comprehensively outclassed on the night.

The goal did little to change the outcome, though, as Tottenham comfortably saw out the remainder of the match and secured their place in the next round.
