Manchester City secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park, bolstering their bid for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The match remained goalless until the final minutes, when academy graduate Nico O’Reilly broke the deadlock, followed by a stoppage-time goal from Mateo Kovacic.

City’s performance was largely underwhelming, with limited clear-cut chances created throughout the match. Everton had their moments, notably when James Tarkowski’s header hit the post in the first half.

However, Tarkowski’s departure due to a hamstring injury weakened Everton’s defence, allowing City to capitalize late in the game.

The victory lifts City to fourth place in the league, four points ahead of Chelsea and Aston Villa, though they have played one more game. With only a few matches remaining, every point is crucial in the race for Champions League qualification.
