Borussia Dortmund Set Price for Assist-King Ryerson

Borussia Dortmund has slapped a €30 million price tag on Ryerson as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Barcelona line up for the Norwegian assist-king.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly open to parting ways with Julian Ryerson this summer, but only if the price is right.

After a season that can only be described as a breakout, the 28-year-old Norwegian has caught the attention of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Barcelona. While Dortmund aren’t exactly pushing him out the door, the club’s hierarchy has made it clear that they won’t entertain any offers below their €30 million valuation.

The surge in interest isn’t hard to explain when you look at the stat sheet. Ryerson has racked up 14 assists this season, proving to be one of the most consistent creative outlets in the Bundesliga.

For clubs like United and Liverpool, who are always on the hunt for full-backs capable of doubling as secondary playmakers, Ryerson represents a battle-tested and relatively affordable solution compared to other elite options in the market.

Dortmund are in a very comfortable position regarding negotiations. Since Ryerson’s current contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2028, there is absolutely no pressure to sell for a “discounted” fee. The club knows they hold all the leverage, and unless one of the interested parties meets that €30 million figure, they are more than happy to keep their star wing-back for another title charge next season.

There is also the Haaland Factor to consider regarding his market value. With the 2026 World Cup just around the corner, Ryerson is expected to be a key provider for a Norway side that features Erling Haaland and Alexander Sørloth.

A strong showing on the world stage, feeding some of the best strikers on the planet, could see his price tag climb even higher, making a pre-tournament deal look like a savvy move for any potential buyer.

Dortmund snatched Ryerson from 1. FC Union Berlin in January 2023 for what now looks like a symbolic €5 million fee. If they manage to offload him for €30 million, it would represent a 500% profit in just over three years.
