Liam Rosenior, Chelsea’s boss, has put to rest rumors of Cole Palmer’s potential departure, stating that the 23-year-old midfielder is “very happy” at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer, who joined Chelsea in 2023, has been instrumental in the team’s success, scoring 48 goals in all competitions and playing a key role in last year’s Club World Cup win.
Despite his impressive track record, Palmer’s game time has been limited this season due to injuries, including a persistent groin issue and a broken toe. However, Rosenior emphasizes that Palmer is a vital part of Chelsea’s long-term plans and is focused on getting him back to full fitness.
“He’s an outstanding footballer, but my job and the club’s job is to get him in a place where he can consistently perform at the level he wants to,” Rosenior said.
Palmer’s recent performances have shown flashes of brilliance, including a penalty goal in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Brentford, but he’s been open about his frustration with his injury situation.
Rosenior attributes Palmer’s muted celebrations to pain and frustration rather than unhappiness at the club. Palmer has returned to training and is expected to be assessed for Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace.
Chelsea, currently sixth in the standings, will face a tough challenge at Selhurst Park, where Palace are struggling in 13th place.
Rosenior warns that the game will be a physical battle, and the atmosphere will be intense.
