Under-Pressure Frank Insists Tottenham Are Heading in the ‘Right Direction’

Thomas Frank says Tottenham remain united and moving forward despite pressure on his position ahead of Burnley clash.

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank has insisted that the club remains aligned and moving in the right direction as he looks to revive their struggling Premier League campaign.

The pressure on the Dane eased slightly on Tuesday night after Tottenham secured a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, a result that lifted spirits around the club following a difficult run of domestic form.

However, Frank knows that anything other than a win away to relegation-threatened Burnley this weekend would quickly bring renewed scrutiny, with Tottenham currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, the 52-year-old stressed that he continues to receive strong backing from the club’s hierarchy, describing the support from the board and ownership as “exceptional throughout the season.”

“I know there’s a few questions about me, but it’s not about me,” Frank told reporters. “It’s about the staff, the players and the club being aligned, and that direction is very clear from ownership to the board. Everyone is on the same page.”

Frank also revealed the close working relationship he has with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, explaining that frequent informal meetings help maintain clarity and communication amid a hectic schedule.

Despite those reassurances, tension has been evident among supporters, with sections of the Tottenham crowd chanting “You’re getting sacked in the morning” after last week’s 2-1 home defeat to West Ham. Spurs are already out of both domestic cup competitions, though the win over Dortmund has secured a place in the Champions League play-off round.

Frank was also asked about speculation linking defender Micky van de Ven with a move to Liverpool, but he played down the rumours, insisting the Dutch international is happy in North London and remains a key part of Tottenham’s plans for the present and the future.
