Crystal Palace intend to retain manager Oliver Glasner until the end of the season despite his outburst against the board on Saturday.

After his side lost 2-1 to newly promoted Sunderland, coming after a historic defeat by non-league side Macclesfield in the FA Cup, the biggest giant-killing in the history of the competition, Glasner came publicly and accused the board of not supporting the players.

Glasner’s concers are primarily about the lack if investments in the squad, while they continue to sell the most important players in the squad. Forward Eberechi Eze was sold to Arsenal last summer, while captain Marc Guehi is joining Manchester City this January.

“We feel that we’re being abandoned,” Glasner said. “There’s no support. Everybody’s disappointed. We’ve been playing with 12 to 13 players for weeks now. On the bench [against Sunderland] I had just kids.”

However, despite his outburst, Palace won’t follow the route Chelsea and Manchester United took with Enzo Maresca and Ruben Amorim respectively, and sack their coach. The club intend for Glasner to stay in charge until the end of the season. The Austrian has already announced that he will be departing after his contract expires in the summer.

Palace’s sporting director Matt Hobbs is said to have had a conversation with Glasner in the last 24 hours and resolved matters. Glasner is not thought to have spoken directly with chairman Steve Parish.

Glasner delivered the FA Cup and European football to Palace last summer, making him the most successful manager in their history.
