Liverpool have confirmed that Diogo Jota’s two sons will walk out with the players as mascots ahead of the club’s Premier League fixture against Wolves on Saturday.

Jota died in July at the age of 28 following a car crash in northwestern Spain, alongside his younger brother Andre Silva. Saturday’s meeting is the first between the two clubs at Anfield since the player’s death. The deceased forward played for both clubs in the Premier League.

The former Portugal international first arrived in English football with Wolves, initially joining on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017 before making the move permanent a year later. His goals helped Wolves compete in the top-flight under Nuno Espirito Santo, and his form earned him a transfer to Liverpool in 2020.

Jota quickly became an important figure at Anfield, even if his impact was limited by injuries. He ultimately helped Liverpool to their 20th league title in April/May. Following his death, the club retired his No 20 shirt as a permanent tribute.
