Borussia Dortmund considers signing Chelsea’s Aaron Anselmino permanently after his loan spell, despite no purchase option in the deal.

Borussia Dortmund is optimistic about signing Aaron Anselmino permanently from Chelsea, even though the loan deal doesn’t include a purchase option.

The 20-year-old Argentine defender has begun to impress the club in his loan spell, particularly in their 3-0 win over Union Berlin. Dortmund’s interest in Anselmino isn’t new; they had him on their radar during the 2023/24 season but hesitated due to concerns over his injury record.

Anselmino’s loan deal is part of a larger agreement between Dortmund and Chelsea, which also included the permanent signing of Carney Chukwuemeka for €20 million. The loan fee for Anselmino was €5 million, and Chelsea seems to be open to negotiations for a potential permanent transfer.

Dortmund’s management hopes that if Anselmino performs well and both parties are interested, he might request Chelsea to facilitate a permanent transfer, similar to Chukwuemeka’s situation.

Chukwuemeka’s permanent move to Dortmund was facilitated by his impressive performances during his loan spell last season. He made 17 appearances and showcased his technical skills and creativity in the midfield. Dortmund’s coach, Niko Kovac, sees Chukwuemeka as a vital creative force in the midfield, offering depth and technical quality to the team.

Dortmund’s interest in Anselmino is driven by their need for defensive reinforcements. With injuries and suspensions affecting their backline, Anselmino’s arrival has provided much-needed stability.
