Kvaratskhelia won’t win the Ballon d’Or or get a podium finish, but he doesn’t need that to prove that he was the best player last season.
Over the course of the 2025/26 season, there have been debates over who is the best player in the world. The debate has shifted from Yamal to Mbappe, Dembele, Olise, Harry Kane, and even Lionel Messi.
But one name that should be there has been overlooked. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Over the course of last season, Kvaratskhelia has proved time and again that he is the best player in the world.

Many football fans have general metrics to judge who the best player in the world is. It is either the Ballon d’Or or a combination of goals and assists. However, the conversation for the actual best player in the world is more than that, and that is why Kvaratskhelia has a strong claim to being the best player in the world.
He also has the trophies to back it up.
He was by far the best winger last season, PSG’s main man in the Champions League and a key part of their Ligue 1 triumph. He had an impact in almost every game he played for PSG, especially in the Champions League where he was the best player and provided the most goal contributions.

He is a breath of fresh air to the rigid style of football that we have become accustomed to, and although he missed out on the World Cup, he reminded everyone yesterday in PSG’s Super win, why he is the best player in the World.
Of course, he probably won’t win the Ballon d’Or, but if things were assessed fairly, Kvaratskhelia would be the outright winner, and it would be further proof that he is the best player in the world.
