The abuse came after Danso’s late error allowed Georginio Rutter to score a stoppage-time equaliser, a result that left Spurs stuck in the Premier League relegation zone.
Tottenham released an official statement condemning the racist messages sent to the Austrian international on social media, describing the behaviour as abhorrent and completely unacceptable. The club stressed that such actions amount to criminal offences and confirmed they are working with authorities to identify those responsible for the abuse.
Since yesterday’s fixture against Brighton, which took place during the Premier League’s No Room For Racism weekend, Kevin Danso has been, and continues to be, subject to significant and abhorrent racist abuse on social media.

Tottenham revealed they have reported the offensive content to the Metropolitan Police, as well as to relevant authorities and social media platforms, in a bid to ensure accountability.
The club also issued a strong message of support for Danso, making it clear that he has their full backing both as a player and as an individual during a difficult moment. Danso himself addressed the situation on social media, stating that racism has no place in football or society and insisting that the abuse will not define or distract him from his goals.
The incident comes during the Premier League’s No Room For Racism campaign, highlighting the ongoing challenge of tackling discrimination in football despite increased efforts from authorities and governing bodies.
