Lamine Yamal scored twice and created another as Spain beat Croatia 4-1 in Seville to move three points clear at the top of their Nations League group.
The result extended the world champions’ unbeaten run to 40 matches after beating England 3-2 last time out. Yamal, meanwhile, continued a remarkable international week after also scoring inside two minutes against England.
Spain, who were playing at home for the first time since winning the World Cup, needed only 75 seconds to take the lead. Alex Baena found Yamal inside the area and the Barcelona forward kept his composure to send a low left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Croatia had offered little going forward before drawing level in the 28th minute. Ivan Perisic delivered from the left and Dion Beljo rose above the Spain defence to head past the goalkeeper.
The equaliser lasted only three minutes. Yamal delivered a dangerous cross from a corner and Marc Pubill headed in from close range for his first international goal.
Spain continued to create chances before the break, with Fermin Lopez going close twice and Yamal hitting the post shortly before half-time.
Croatia improved after the interval and forced several efforts on goal, but Spain restored their control in the 63rd minute. Yamal combined with Pedri before cutting inside and firing a left-footed shot past Dominik Livakovic at the near post.
Croatia threatened again through Franjo Ivanovic and had earlier seen efforts from Marco Pasalic and Beljo blocked, but Spain remained in command. Livakovic later made a good save from Pedri before Mikel Merino fed Nico Williams in the 89th minute to complete the scoring.
