Roma have opened talks with Chelsea over Axel Disasi, but the Blues are demanding €20 million for the French defender.
Roma have reportedly identified Chelsea defender Axel Disasi as one of their leading defensive targets, with discussions already underway between the two clubs and the player’s representatives.
The Italian side have endured a frustrating summer transfer window despite securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Several of their preferred targets have slipped away after rival clubs offered more attractive financial packages.
One of the biggest disappointments came in their pursuit of West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, who ultimately chose a move to Al-Hilal despite Roma appearing to be close to completing a deal.

The Giallorossi are now hoping for better fortunes as they negotiate with Chelsea over Disasi. The French centre-back spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, where he shared a dressing room with Summerville during the club’s difficult campaign that ended in relegation from the Premier League.
Chelsea are willing to consider offers for the 28-year-old but are reportedly holding firm on a €20 million valuation. The London club signed Disasi from AS Monaco for approximately €45 million in the summer of 2023 and are looking to recover part of that investment.

Roma, however, are hoping to structure a different type of agreement. With Disasi still under contract at Chelsea until June 2029, the Serie A side would prefer an initial loan deal that includes an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
A move to Italy has been close before for the French defender. During the January transfer window, Disasi was strongly linked with AC Milan, but negotiations ultimately broke down before an agreement could be reached.
Roma will now hope they can succeed where Milan previously fell short. While Chelsea’s €20 million asking price remains a stumbling block, talks are expected to continue as both clubs explore a compromise that could see Disasi finally make the switch to Serie A.
