Rogers Scores On Debut As Chelsea Beat Fulham 3-2

Morgan Rogers got off the mark for his new club, Chelsea, as they took all three points in a tough opening game against Fulham.

Chelsea opened the 26/27 Premier League campaign with a thrilling win over neighbors Fulham. The match got off to an interesting start as Chelsea went ahead in the opening 30 seconds of the game.

Fulham gifted Chelsea possession in a dangerous position, and being short at the back, they couldn’t close down Palmer, who found the run of Joao Pedro. Pedro took the ball in his stride and chipped Leno to get his first goal of the season. It was a dream start for Chelsea and Xabi Alonso.

The Blues managed to hold onto the lead for the next 22 minutes following a series of dangerous attacks from Fulham. Their defence was eventually breached in the 23rd minute after a fierce shot from Josh King beat Sanchez at his near post.

Chelsea responded with a close miss from Joao Pedro, while Palmer delayed in the box when gifted a free shot at goal. The Englishman came close again when his shot narrowly missed the far post, but he was at the center of things when Chelsea got their second of the game.

Palmer received the ball deep in the midfield, played it to Lacroix, who beat his man, chipped the ball past the onrushing Leno, and into space for Rogers to fire home from close range.

The Blues took a 2-1 lead at the half-time break, and four minutes into the second half, they doubled their advantage with Joao Pedro turning provider for Palmer who scored from an almost impossible angle.

The Blues were on fire and looked set to add more goals only for Fulham to pull one back six minutes later. The game was no longer safe for the Blues and Fulham almost levelled the score only for Robinson and Josh King to see their efforts go wide.

Chelsea added a fourth but it was ruled out for offside while Sanchez pulled off a great stop to deny Kevin from close range.

The game eded 3-2 with Chelsea breathing a sigh of relief. The postive for Xabi Alonso will be that he got all three points in a tough derby and all his frontmen got on the scoresheet.
