Richarlison entered the Tottenham Hotspur history books on Tuesday night after scoring the club’s 2,000th Premier League goal during their 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Despite the defeat, the Brazilian forward achieved a major milestone for the North London side in a difficult season.
The goal came with just over 15 minutes remaining in the match. Tottenham were trailing 2-0 when substitute Pape Matar Sarr produced a clever backheel inside the penalty area, allowing Richarlison to react quickest and fire home from close range.
His strike briefly gave Tottenham hope of completing a late comeback against Chelsea, but the visitors were unable to find an equaliser before the final whistle. The defeat means Tottenham’s fight to avoid relegation will now go down to the final day of the season.

By reaching the 2,000-goal mark, Tottenham became only the sixth club in Premier League history to achieve the feat since the competition was formed in 1992. It is another landmark moment in the club’s long top-flight history, even if it arrived during a disappointing campaign.
Tottenham’s very first Premier League goal was scored by Gordon Durie in a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace back in August 1992. Since then, several players have reached milestone goals for the club across different generations.
Les Ferdinand netted Tottenham’s 500th Premier League goal, while Jermain Defoe later scored their 1,000th. Defender Juan Foyth then registered the club’s 1,500th goal before Richarlison completed the latest milestone against Chelsea.
The Brazilian’s goal also highlighted what has been one of his strongest individual seasons in a Tottenham shirt. Richarlison has now scored 12 goals in all competitions this campaign, with 11 of those coming in the Premier League.
That tally equals his best scoring return for Tottenham since joining the club. Across his Premier League career with Tottenham, Everton, and Watford, Richarlison has now scored 75 league goals, further underlining his importance and experience at the highest level.
