Italian clubs spent a whopping €815 million on transfer fees this summer, ranking third behind English and German clubs in a record-breaking transfer window.

The summer 2025 transfer window has officially closed, and the numbers are staggering. A total of €8.36 billion was spent on transfer fees worldwide, a 50% increase from the same period last year. This surge in spending saw approximately 12,000 international transfers take place across the globe.

Italian clubs were among the biggest spenders, with a combined outlay of around €815 million on transfer fees. Although they ranked third behind German clubs (€841 million) and English clubs (€2.73 billion), the Italian clubs still managed to make significant signings. In total, Italian clubs made 307 new signings and sold 394 players, resulting in a net spend of around €54 million.

Italian clubs not only spent big but also generated significant revenue from transfer fees. They raked in around €762 million from player sales, ranking fourth behind:

English Premier League: €1.33 billion

French Ligue 1: €1.089 billion

German Bundesliga: €1 billion

In terms of player movement, Ligue 1 was the most popular destination for Italian clubs, with 44 players making the move.  On the other hand, Italian players were in high demand, with Spanish clubs buying the most players from Italy (37 players). Germany: 30 players

Turkey: 24 players

Romania: 18 players
