Forward has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury after leaving the pitch against Betis
Real Madrid have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe has suffered a left hamstring injury that leaves him a doubt for the clásico on 10 May.
Mbappe experienced discomfort on the pitch before requesting to be substituted during Friday’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis. According to reports the forward could even miss the remainder of the season.
Madrid also confirmed that Eder Militao will undergo surgery in Finland this week after sustaining an injury in the recent win over Alaves. The defender was forced off just before half-time in the 2-1 victory.
Militao has struggled with fitness in recent seasons, including cruciate ligament injuries in consecutive campaigns, and has made 16 appearances in La Liga this term.
Mbappe has scored 24 goals in 28 league matches this season and is expected to play a central role for France at this summer’s World Cup, where they begin their campaign against Senegal on 16 June.
The 27-year-old has been accused of prioritising France and the World Cup over his responsibilities to Madrid.
