Rumours surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s situation at Real Madrid have intensified in Spain and there are now suggestions that there is more to his recent injury problems.

The forward, who is under contract until 2029, was substituted late in Madrid’s draw with Real Betis after complaining of knee pain and signalling to be removed. Shortly after his exit, Madrid conceded a late equaliser from Hector Bellerin, further damaging their title hopes by leaving them 11 points behind Barcelona.

Madrid supporters are frustrated that the club are finishing trophyless for the second season in a row and they have begun to question the legitimacy of Mbappe’s injury.

Some feel he did not leave the pitch because of injury and that he wasn’t prepared to give his all. This follows earlier talk that Mbappe has been saving himself for the World Cup by deliberately missing games for Madrid.

Spanish outlet Marca escalated the situation with the headline “Mbappe has had enough” and linking his apparent dissatisfaction to ongoing physical issues and tensions behind the scenes.

Among the reported issues are clashes with Jude Bellingham and a strained relationship with manager Alvaro Arbeloa. There are also suggestions Mbappe is unhappy with the perceived preference shown to Vinicius Junior, contributing to ongoing tension between the two attackers.

It needs to be made clear that this is all rumour outside the club and both players have dismissed them.
