PSG moved to within one point of another Ligue 1 title after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Brest, with Desire Doue scoring the decisive late winner.

PSG moved to the brink of securing a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title after grinding out a narrow 1-0 victory over Brest at the Parc des Princes. The result leaves Luis Enrique’s side needing just one more point to officially retain the French crown.

Fresh from reaching a second straight UEFA Champions League final, Enrique heavily rotated his squad for the league encounter, making nine changes from the side that faced Bayern Munich during the week. Despite the reshuffle, PSG still controlled large portions of the match against a struggling Brest side now without a win in seven league games.

The hosts created the first major opening when Lucas Hernandez unleashed a powerful strike from distance, forcing Brest goalkeeper Gregoire Coudert into a superb fingertip save to push the ball over the crossbar.

PSG continued to dominate possession and territory as teenager Dro Fernandez curled an effort narrowly wide before Raphael Le Guen produced an important defensive intervention to deny Goncalo Ramos a simple finish from Lee Kang-in’s dangerous delivery.

Brest rarely threatened in attack, although Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe briefly tested Renato Marin with a close-range effort. However, an offside flag in the build-up meant any potential goal would not have counted.

The second half began in similarly stop-start fashion, but PSG gradually increased the pressure once more. Goncalo Ramos headed over before Enrique introduced Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue in search of greater attacking spark.

PSG came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock when Senny Mayulu thundered a strike against both the underside of the crossbar and the inside of the post, with Brest somehow surviving the scare.

The breakthrough finally arrived eight minutes from the final whistle as Doue drilled a precise low finish beyond Coudert to secure all three points for the champions-elect. The victory extended PSG’s remarkable unbeaten run against Brest to 34 matches and moved them within touching distance of another Ligue 1 triumph ahead of their crucial clash against second-placed Lens.
