Glasner left Crystal Palace at the end of the season after two highly successful years
Oliver Glasner is in advanced talks to become Nottingham Forest’s next head coach, with the former Crystal Palace manager close to replacing Vitor Pereira.
If appointed, Glasner would become Forest’s fifth permanent manager in less than a year as the club prepares for another change in the dugout, despite Pereira keeping them in the Premier League last season.
Glasner has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the campaign. The 51-year-old announced in January that he would step down after two highly successful years in charge, having guided Palace to the FA Cup in 2024-25 before adding the Community Shield and Conference League the following season.
Pereira was appointed by Forest in February on an 18-month contract running until 2027. The club had planned to open talks over a new long-term deal after he secured survival, but those discussions were later put on hold.
The 57-year-old inherited a team sitting three points above the relegation zone and led Forest to safety with two matches left to play. It was his second spell managing in the Premier League after previously keeping Wolverhampton Wanderers in the division during the 2024-25 season.
Pereira was appointed to replace Sean Dyche, who had taken over after the departures of Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.
Nuno left in September, less than three months after signing a new contract, despite leading Forest to Europa League qualification the previous season. Postecoglou’s spell lasted only 39 days before Dyche was appointed in October.
