Michael Olise scored a stunning winner as Bayern Munich beat Wolfsburg 1-0, while the relegation battle goes down to the Bundesliga’s final day.
Bayern Munich secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg thanks to a stunning second-half strike from Michael Olise, while Wolfsburg’s survival hopes remain hanging by a thread heading into the final day of the Bundesliga season.
Having already wrapped up the league title, Bayern entered the match looking to bounce back from their painful Champions League semi-final elimination against Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the week.
Despite having little left to play for domestically, Vincent Kompany’s side started brightly in a fast-paced encounter, although Wolfsburg nearly grabbed an early lead when Vinícius Souza forced goalkeeper Jonas Urbig into an excellent point-blank save.
At the other end, Wolfsburg keeper Kamil Grabara was equally busy, denying Jamal Musiala at the near post before watching Tom Bischof strike the woodwork as Bayern increased the pressure.
The biggest talking point of the first half came in the 36th minute when Harry Kane missed his first Bundesliga penalty after slipping during the run-up, sending his effort wide following a foul on Olise inside the box. Wolfsburg nearly punished Bayern immediately afterwards, but Urbig produced two impressive saves to deny Denis Vavro and Christian Eriksen as the hosts threatened to take advantage of Kane’s rare mistake.
The breakthrough finally arrived just before the hour mark when Olise delivered a moment of brilliance, cutting inside from the right flank with a series of step-overs before curling a magnificent strike in off the underside of the crossbar.

Wolfsburg pushed for a late equaliser and came agonisingly close when Mattias Svanberg raced through on goal, only to see his low effort strike the post, leaving Dieter Hecking’s side stuck in the relegation play-off spot ahead of a decisive final-day showdown with fellow strugglers St. Pauli.
