Erling Haaland scored twice as Norway began their Nations League campaign with a 3-2 victory over Denmark.
Haaland doubled Norway’s lead in the 18th minute after Oscar Bobb had opened the scoring with quarter of an hour played. Denmark halved the deficit before the half hour through Mikkel Damsgaard, before Rasmus Hojlund levelled on the hour.
But Haaland fire Norway ahead again with his second goal in the 74th minute, meeting a short corner with a first-time finish to put the hosts back in front.
The result continues an extraordinary run for the Manchester City striker at international level. He has scored in 15 of his last 16 competitive appearances for Norway, with 29 goals during that period. He had an impressive World Cup where he scored in every game he played but one, the World Cup quarter-final defeat against England.
Haaland scored seven times during throughout the summer tournament and has now registered 64 goals and seven assists in 56 appearances for his country. He has scored at least twice in eight of his past 10 competitive internationals.
Norway had to see out the closing stages with 10 men after David Moller Wolfe was sent off for a second yellow card in stoppage time. They nevertheless held on to claim the three points.
